Donald L. Rhonemus, 80, of Lancaster, passed away at Fairfield Medical Center the evening of Sunday, May 25th. Don was born on Jan. 21st, 1933 to the late Burly and Mary Rhonemus. Don served his country in the Korean War from 1953-1955. Don was a master brick mason for over 50 years and an honorary member of Brick masons Local 44. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge and Am Vets. Don was an avid fisherman and spent most of his retirement days golfing. Don is preceded in death by brothers Buryl, Jr. and Fred, sisters Juanita and Madonna. Don is survived by son Bill (Susie) Rhonemus, daughter Becky (Bob) George both of Lancaster, Ohio and son Barry Rhonemus of Scottsdale, Arizona, grandchildren Wendy Pennington, Billy (Amy) Rhonemus, and Craig (Christy) George, six great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Earl Kilbarger.
Funeral services will be held at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home on Thursday at 10:30AM, officiated by Pastor Ron Grubb . A committal service will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with the Lancaster Veterans Detail presiding. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdayand one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Many thanks to all the loving care at the Rockmill Medical Center and Fairfield Medical Center. In-lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated in honor of Don to Rockmill Palliative Care, 3780 Dolson Court NW, Carroll, 43112.
