Donald Paul Hostutler

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Donald “Don” Paul Hostutler.  On Sunday, October 29, 2023, at age 86, Don was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.  Don was born on July 26, 1937, in Monongah, WV, to Joseph Paul and Iva Jane (McKinney) Hostutler.

Don attended Monongah High School in West Virginia.  He continued his education at Fairmont State University in Fairmont, WV, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Drafting and Engineering. During college he was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and also the Army National Guard Reserves.  After high school he joined the US Air Force and pursued a career as an Aeronautical Engineer.

Don lived a long and fulfilling life as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. On December 12, 1959, Don married the love of his life, Sandra Rae Gaskins.  They were married for 63 years.  Don had a passion for airplanes, golfing, watching his favorite sports teams, attending church events and spending time with his friends and family.  He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Don is survived by his wife, Sandra Rae (Gaskins) Hostutler; daughter, Lisa (Kenneth) Wooten; son, Jon Hostutler; granddaughters, Jordan (Josh) Fox, Jessa (Daniel) Wooten and Jessika Hostutler; grandsons, Joseph (Jordon) Wooten and Jakob Hostutler; great grandsons, Jaden Fox, Jace Fox, Jonah Wooten, Jude Fox, Jaqen Wooten, and Jensen Wooten; great granddaughters, Jackson Fox, Jaryn Fox, Jayla Wooten, Jori Fox, Jorja Wooten, Josie Wooten and two more on the way.  He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Swisher (James).  He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Paul and Iva Jane Hostutler.

Please join us as we celebrate his life on Friday, November 3, 2023.  Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Joel Reid officiating at Bethany Cemetery off of Clearport Rd, just south of Chambers Rd.  The Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military rites at the cemetery.  There will be a celebration of life immediately following at 18444 Chambers Rd., Amanda, OH.

Arrangements are being handled by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, LANCASTER, OHIO.
