Donald E. Fogg
Donald E. Fogg, 92, of Friendship Village, Dublin, Ohio, formerly of Lancaster, Ohio, died September 25, 2016. He was born in Warren, Ohio in 1923 and graduated from Lordstown High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in 1944-1945.
He was very active in 4-H during his youth, winning numerous awards. In 1949, he graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science. While at OSU, he was a member of the 1947 dairy cattle judging team, Alpha Tau Zeta fraternity and Gamma Sigma Delta agricultural honorary. He came to Fairfield County as Associate County Agricultural Agent and was affiliated with the Farm Credit System, Production Credit Association first in Salem, Ohio and later in the Washington, D.C. national office until 1967 when he returned to Lancaster and entered the real estate business. He developed two subdivisions Avery Hills and Don-A-Mar Estates. He served two terms as President of the Lancaster Board of Realtors, twice nominated as Realtor of the year, and two terms on the executive committee of the Ohio Association of Realtors, as well as serving as President of the Ohio Chapter of the Farm and Land Institute. He was an original member of the Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission, serving for over ten years, and for several years was a director of the Millersport Bank. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lancaster, the Lancaster Rotary club, a 50+ years member of Farm Bureau Council #33, and a lifetime member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association and Alpha Tau Zeta alumni association. Don is survived by two daughters, Susan Obenauf Moore (Don) of Beverly Hills, FL and Louann Reilly (Bob) of Centennial, CO; three grandchildren, Jeremy Obenauf of Dublin, OH, Chad Obenauf of Dexter, MI, and Megan Reilly of Elizabeth, CO.; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Rose Clem of Johnstown, OH and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William E. Fogg and Mabel A. Batzli Fogg, his beloved wife Martha Louise Nesbit Fogg, and son-in-law Brad Obenauf. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 4PM until 7PM at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday morning.
