Delbert Wright

Delbert G. Wright, 92, of Newark, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, September 11, 2015.

Delbert was a member of New Life Christian Center in Lancaster for 43 years before joining The Life Church in Heath, Ohio. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. Delbert loved the Lord and he loved his family. He was never one to complain or use a cross word, always willing to lend a hand and help someone in need, and he taught others how to live by his example. Delbert truly loved and enjoyed life, and he was always quick to share a joke or something witty to help bring joy to the lives of others.

Delbert is survived by his children, Thomas G. (Sandy) Wright of Hamilton, Ohio, Paul J. (Sharon) Wright of Lancaster, Nathan Ted (Carrie) Wright of Sabina, Ohio, James S. (Juanita) Wright of Hamilton, Deborah E. (John) Levier of Newark, and Daniel E. (Debbie) Wright of Laurel, Indiana; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by brothers, Wilbert Wright, Marvin (Verla) Wright, and Calvin (Gladys) Wright.

Delbert was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Gladys E. Wright; parents, Jenison and Flossie Wright; brothers, Alfred Wright, Albert Wright, and Melvin Wright; and sisters, Glenna Redd, Thelma Wilkes, and Hazel Mason.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at New Life Christian Center, 2642 Columbus-Lancaster Rd NW, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Pastor Gary Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Carroll Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S. Main St, Baltimore, Ohio 43105.

Donations may be made in memory of Delbert to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd, Newark, Ohio 43055.
