Deborah “Debby” Ferne Baskin, 79, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1945, to the late Merlyn “Mac” McInturf and Hallie (Bowman) McInturf.
Debby graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught 2nd grade at Pleasantville Elementary for 35 years. Debby was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster where for many years she was a member of the Alter Guild and volunteered in the nursery. Debby was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International as well as a member of DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Debby is survived by her husband, Ray Baskin; children, Liz (Chris) Walton and Kevin (Heather) Baskin; sister, Jeannie (Gene) Lifer; grandchildren, Kyle and Andrew Walton, Gabrielle and Chase Smith, and Stella Baskin; one nephew and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin and Hallie McInturf, and two brothers, Bob and Nick McInturf.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 163 E. Wheeling Street, Lancaster OH. Friends and family may visit from noon until the time of the service. A private burial will take place at a later date.
