David A. Wiles 81 of Millersport, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 7, 2023. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Dwight and Helen (Edgar) Wiles.
David was a 1960 graduate of Zanesville High School and began his machinist career working for Weinman Pump and later retired from Grote Co. with over 15 years of service.
In his younger years, he was a bowman, rode dirt bikes, and raced drag cars. He was a member of Buckeye Lake Eagles Aries #2801, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for corvettes, hunting for Native American artifacts, and collecting sports cards. Some of his other hobbies and interests were mowing the grass, and being a proud member of the Republican Party.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Jill) Wiles of Millersport and Sue Huneck of Columbus; grandchildren, Joshua (Taryn) Wiles and Megan Wiles; sisters, Jean Cooper of Zanesville, Joann (Bob) Baker of Chandlersville; several nieces and nephews; friends, Frank Dixon, Mary Eiginger, Ed Sharp, Ray King, Terry and Janet Ryan and his canine companions, Tootie and Maggie.
David was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Shelly Wiles, second wife Barbara Wiles, parents, brother, Eldon Wiles, sister, Cara Bonifield and son-in-law Tom Huneck.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 with Rev. Kermit Welty officiating. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Caring Cremation® has taken place. Private inurnment will be in Millersport Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Millersport Community Food Pantry, c/o Millersport Methodist Church, 2310 Refugee Rd NE, Millersport, OH 43046.
