Lancaster, Ohio - David M. Warnock, 85, died at Fairhope Hospice on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023

David M. Warnock, 85, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023. He was born July 25, 1938 in Canton, Ohio, to Raymond F. Warnock and Lillian (Gerber) Warnock.

After his high school graduation, David served in the US Naval Air Wing where he taught instrument flying. He then attended and graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. While in college, David was a proud member of both the Sigma Nu Fraternity and the OU Men’s Glee Club. David met the love of his life, Karen (Brinkerhoff) Warnock, at Ohio University. They were married shortly before they graduated. Together they were a perfect balance and brought out the best in each other. They enjoyed traveling with dear family and friends, participating in their church community of St. John’s, walking their numerous dogs, gardening, and reading.

After retiring from a career in marketing, advertising, and sales, David was known to sit on his front porch in the evening and toast those coming home from work. He joined a local painting group and discovered his love of watercolor painting. He remained active in this painting group through the remainder of his life. His art can be found in numerous churches, public spaces, and private collections. David’s family treasures his art. His love of art has been transferred to his grandchildren.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Karen Warnock, and son Mark (Judy) Warnock, son-in-law Niels (Mary) Hansen, and grandchildren: Katie (Eric) Fleck, Ama Warnock (Julie) Merrell, Erin Hansen, and Fiona Hansen, his sister Lynn Anderson and brother Thomas Warnock.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lillian Warnock, and his dearly loved daughter, Connie Hansen.

The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, Dec. 2nd, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 134 North Broad Street, Lancaster Ohio. Immediately after the service, David’s ashes will be sprinkled in the St. John Memorial Garden.
