Dave Phillips, gone from this world into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Pickering House in Lancaster.
He was born in Fairmont, WV sixty-eight years ago to Albert and Almeda (Carpenter) Phillips. Dave moved with his family to Lancaster, Ohio in the early 1960’s. He graduated from Berne Union High School in 1967, where he made many friends and met and later married his high school sweetheart, Susie (Uhl) Phillips.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Susie; daughter, Julie (Bill) Kennedy; granddaughter, Shelby (Tommy) Disbennett; and great-granddaughter, Emerson Disbennett. Also surviving is a sister, Sue Ann Hill and a brother, Rodger Phillips. Sisters & brothers-in-law, Jeannie (Steve) Lavey, Mary (Melvin) Morris, Connie Saffle, Mike (Donna) Uhl, Pat Uhl, Tom (Shelly) Uhl, and Jeff Groves; mother-in-law, Gloria Uhl; and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and also his father-in-law, Fred Uhl, Jr. “Pop”; sister-in-law, Debbie (Uhl) Groves; and brother-in-law, Tom Saffle.
Dave retired from Columbia Gas after 22 years, then pursued his love of cars and NHRA bracket drag racing, enjoying the thrill of the race and all of his racer friends.
