Darl E. Derr 87 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Arbors at Carroll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
He was a Korean Conflict veteran serving in the US Army. He was a lifelong farmer and owner of Rushcreek Valley Farms. Rushcreek Valley Farms started out as a portion of the original 80 acres that had been in the Derr family for 155 years. He also was an electrician for American Electric Sales.
Darl was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hide-A-Way Hills and a former board member of the Hocking County Farm Bureau and former Church Council of Emanuel Lutheran Church. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie (Blume) Derr; sons, Lee A. (Lee Montor Derr) Derr of San Antonio, Texas and Kerry R. Derr of Sugar Grove, Ohio; grandchildren, Drake Derr, Jack Darl Derr and Kaliyan Hope Derr; sister, Doris (Bill) Shauger of Lancaster, Ohio; nephews, Jeff (Cathy) Mathias and Glen (Kathy) Derr and cousin, Shelva McKinley.
Darl was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Evelyn Derr, brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Juanita Derr, brother-in-law, Junior Mathias and in-laws, Harry and Edith Blume.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Rev. Jeff Wick officiating. A live broadcast of the funeral service will be hosted on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. on the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery with the Baltimore VFW Post 3761 conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
In accordance with state mandates, COVID protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed.
