Peters
Daniel L. Peters, Jr. 41 of Lancaster, Ohio has gone to be with his eternal God and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, November 22, 2013 at OSU Wexner Medical Center.
He was owner of Lancaster Bicycle. Dan was awarded the Lancaster Eagle-Gazettes Orchid Award for providing free maintenance to the Fairfield County Sheriffs Office and Lancaster Police Departments bicycle patrol units and for collaborating with a Boy Scout troop to recondition 10 bicycles for Fairfield County Job & Family Services. He was a founding member of Tour de Cause, assisted with Safe Routes to School and taught Bicycle Safety classes for Lancaster City Schools. Dan was the Tour de Cause Collaborative Volunteer for Operation Street Smart, participated in Dirty Thirty fundraiser for Lancaster City Schools and volunteered at Medill Elementary. He volunteered for numerous Bicycle Rally events, participated in Pelotonia from 2009-2011. He was active with Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, volunteered in Honduras with fire fighting and GIS mapping of flood plains. He assisted the U.S. Forestry Service with forest fires in Utah, active with the Fourth of July Committee and Lancaster Heritage Trails.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carrie Peters; daughters, Adria Peters and Marissa Peters both of the home; parents, Daniel L. Peters, Sr. and Larita K. Peters of McDonough, GA; birth mother, Frieda Moore of Dayton, OH; brothers and sisters, Lora Kaye (Dolph) Santorine of Wheeling WV, Lisa (Chuck) Steadman of Nelsonville, OH, Lynne (Andy) Evans of Lancaster, OH, Toney (Celenna) Peters of McDonough, GA, Matthew (Jenni) Peters of Mebane, NC, Mark (Darlene) Peters of Outerbanks, NC, Stephen (Belenda) Peters of Mebane, NC, Jim (Helene) Jacobs of Pittsburgh, PA, Rebekah (Rick) Quinones of Virginia Beach, VA, Seth (Wicky) Peters of Cumming, GA, Andrew (Amber) Peters of Gardendale, AL, Lt. Micah (Shannon) Peters of Ft. Benning, GA, Rachel (Joshua) Addis of Grantville, GA, Hannah Peters, Timothy Peters both of McDonough, GA and Bernie (Sue) Moore of Johnsville, OH; grandparents, Evelyn Peters Robinson of Galion, OH and Margie Garris of Mt. Caring Cremation® has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
