Dan Trimmer 72, of Baltimore, Ohio passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born on February 3, 1950 in Lancaster, Ohio to Leota Trimmer and the late Melvin Trimmer.
He attended New Zion United Methodist Church as a little boy and went to Vacation Bible School only because his mother made him. He would rather be at home riding with his dad on the tractor. He was a Liberty Union High School graduate Class of 1968, where he lettered in all four years in basketball and baseball. He was a member of FFA and the class treasurer.
Dan was a lifelong farmer in Baltimore, Ohio starting out as a dairy farmer with his father Melvin and worked with him tilling the soil and harvesting his favorite crop, corn with his father for 40 years. Dan was the past president of the Union Evangelical Cemetery Board and helped coach Liberty Union High School Girls Softball.
Quiet little Dan was a prankster and helped his wife in her classroom at Sanderson School. He would play the “Change Game” with the kids and helped them with their education.
Dan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cathy; daughter, Devon (Jamie) Meyers of Denver, Colorado; grandsons, Alex and Walker; mother, Leota Trimmer of Baltimore, Ohio; sister, June (Mike) Neer of Overland Park, Kansas; brother, Mark (Randi) Trimmer of Baltimore, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Trimmer, in-laws, Richard and Barbara Miller, sister-in-law, Cindy Kohler and brother-in-law, Chris Miller.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at New Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Smalley officiating. Burial will be held in Union Evangelical Cemetery. Friends may visit 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Basil Joint Fire District, 410 Washington Street, Baltimore, Ohio 43105 in his memory.
