Daivd "Dave" Collen

David E. Collen, age 83 of Lancaster, formerly of Trade, TN, died June 8th 2012 at the Pickering House. He was born to James and Esther Wuthrick Collen on August 1, 1928 in Alliance. He was in the US. Navy and was recruited from there to work for IBM on some of the first computers. He had his own business in Alliance then moved to Lancaster, retired from management at Diamond Power, and then took up residence at a farm in TN. He was a past Kiwanis President, and was very active in the community and was on several professional boards.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Collen of Lancaster; daughter, Darlene G. Collen Stalter of Columbus; son, Tom D. Collen of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jason (Paula) Stalter of Las Vegas, Josh D. (Donna) Stalter, and Jonathon P. Stalter, both of Lancaster, Connor, Reese, and Logan Collen all of Fayetteville, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Chaise Wohrer and Ava Stalter; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Collen, and sister Martha Collen.
A memorial service will take place on Monday evening at 7PM at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Caring Cremation has taken place. Burial will follow on July 3rd at the family cemetery on the mountain in Trade, TN.
