BALTIMORE: Connie Leitnaker, 87, of Baltimore, Ohio passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. She was born November 8, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Lois E. Yeager.
Connie was dedicated to serving the community and preserving its heritage, playing a vital role on many community committees and activities such as serving as the Director of the Sherman House from 1981 to 2003. She brought that same dedication to the Fairfield Medical Center, serving on the Board of Directors and on the Former Board Committee, as well as being an Associate member of Twig 1 and Lifetime member of Froebel Club. She served as President of the Fairfield Heritage Association and the Ohio Historical Decorative Arts Association. She also served on the Boards of the Robert K. Fox Family Y, the Lancaster Festival and the Decorative Arts Center in Lancaster, Ohio. She was recipient of the Floyd Wolfe Community Service Award in 2000 and was presented with the Humanitarian Award by Fairfield Medical Center.
Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, attending many of her grandchildrens' various activities, and some will remember her for the annual Christmas Open House she and Phil hosted for many years.
She is survived by sons, Tim (Dee) of Pleasantville, Ohio, Tom (Liz) and Mark (Jenny) of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren Phillip, Henry, JoEllen, Leanna, Olivia, Brant, Jake, Sarah and Rachael; and great-grandchild Rohya. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip T. Leitnaker, and two children, Phillip T. and Diana Leitnaker.
A funeral service will take place on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church at 1PM, officiated by Rev. Matthew Richardson. Family and friends may call at the church from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM on Thursday and also one hour prior on Friday. Burial will follow the services at Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements have been handled through the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME.
