Cody Michael Hines left this world on July 31, 2017, just weeks after his 29th birthday. He was embraced with open arms by his creator and the many loved ones who had gone before him. The following day, he became a savior to others through organ donation and a superhero to his family and friends.
The moment Cody came into this world, he was a force of nature. Despite surgery as an infant and being diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes before the age of 3, he remained a positive, beaming light of joy. He struggled with addiction as a young adult, yet maintained his hope for the future and love of life, enjoying every opportunity to spend time with friends and family. His wish was to travel the world and find someone to share that experience with.
He is survived by his mother, Michelle (Ayers) Hines, Baltimore; his father, Gary “JR” Hines Jr., Fairfield Beach; his grandparents, Carlene Bader Ayers and Michael Ayers, Baltimore; his grandfather, Gary Hines, Lancaster; his sister, Sidney Wilson, Baltimore; his brother Chase Hines, Fairfield Beach; his sister, Drew Hines, Fairfield Beach; and many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends ... all of whom loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Millie “Mouse” Hines & Robert “Bob” Taylor, Fairfield Beach.
Services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 4PM at Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, Baltimore, OH., officiated by Rev. Dianna Gugle. Family and friends may visit prior to the service on Friday, from 2PM and 4PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local substance abuse prevention program or the American Diabetes Association. In lieu of a card, please reach out to another struggling with addiction. In lieu of mourning the death of this sweet boy, please become an organ donor and save a life as he did.
