Clayton E. Rose

Clayton E. Rose, 85, of Lancaster, Ohio, went to meet his Lord on November 27, 2024 with his loving family at his side. Clayton was born March 21, 1939 to the late Clayton William Rose and Thais Jeanette Hutchinson.

Clayton grew up on a farm in Hocking County, Ohio, graduated from Union Furnace High School, attended Ohio University, and served in the National Guard. Until recently, he was a business owner of laundromats, Rose Construction, and other ventures. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy DeVol Rose of Lancaster, Ohio, his son, Gregori Rose (Cheryl) of Baltimore, Ohio, daughter, Robin Rose of Lancaster, Ohio, daughter Karmella Rose Valverde (George) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren: Carly Weaver (Graham), Matthew Rose (Kaitlyn), Michael Rose (Kaelynne) of Lancaster, Ohio, Jordan Miears (Michael), Alex Valverde (Sierra), Natalie Lindskov (Noah), Kassidy Valverde of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Lois E. Hutchinson, Silvia Sameer and brother, Donald D. Rose of Logan, Ohio, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his daughter, April Elaine Rose and his sisters Carol Rose and Dorothy Donahue.

Services to be held Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus Street, Lancaster, Ohio at 12pm, Rev. Chuck Fidler will be presiding. Viewing hours will be from 10am – 12pm with the funeral service immediately following. Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery afterwards.
