Swisher, Christina Rose 77 of Lancaster, OH originally of Charlerio, PA, was peacefully released from this world in the early evening hours of December 8, 2019. She was surrounded by her loved ones when her spirit took flight.
Chris grew up in Lancaster, OH and married the love of her life on September 5, 1959. Chris and her husband William F. Swisher (1939-2011) were blessed with two children (Dea Louise and William Franklin) who were and eternally will be Chris' entire world. Chris and husband Bill raised their young family in Michigan, but Chris, Dea and son Bill returned to Ohio in the mid 70's, spent some time living in her beloved Florida in the 80's, but eventually returned to the place she always called home - Lancaster.
Friends knew her as Chris, the beautiful, fiery 110 lb., "call it like it is" owner of the Casa Grande Motel since 1986. Her kids and 99.9% of their friends just knew her as “Mom”. She raised her two kids along with dozens of their friends with all the love, kindness and support of a saint. All were always welcome at Chris’ home. Chris also loved her friends and made sure they always knew it. They loved her too. Chris had many favorite things. Her favorite color was white, which made perfect sense as it is the culmination of all colors. She also had a fondness for making lists (of things for others to do), tiny puppies (the smaller the better, but the big ones also enjoyed endless cuddles), jewelry and flowers of all shapes, sizes and colors. Gardenias were her absolute favorite. As for jewelry, we know in heaven she’ll finally find the one soulmate who’ll bestow that 3 carat pear shaped diamond ring she so richly deserved and wanted. Chris had a very quick wit. She reveled in time spent with friends and family. The more she liked you – the more she teased. Chris loved to laugh. She was, quite simply, “fantastic”.
Chris was fortunate enough to have five great loves in her life. Her husband, Bill, her two children Dea and Bill Jr. and her grandchildren Jesse and Caleb George. Many of us only knew her grandbabies as Jesse Poo and Possum, at least until they were old enough to protest.
Chris is survived by her children, Dea Louise Everhart and William F. of Lancaster, OH, her grandchildren Jesse George, Caleb (Erin) George, Mande Queen and her great-granddaughters Brooklyn Wilmoth and Cherish Price. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Jane (Chiazza) Diflippo (“Nuna”) and James (Jimmy) Cameron Diflippo (“PaPap”).
In lieu of flowers, feel free to consider a gift to The Fairhope Hospice & Palliative Care, Home of the Pickering Home at https://fairhopehospice.org. She would be pleased for support of the charity who made her last days so comfortable. The family will be hosting a viewing to celebrate Chris' life at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory at 405 N. Columbus, St., Lancaster, OH 43130 on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. All are welcome. Please bring your memories and your love.
