Christopher Allen Wentz, 59, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 9th, 2025. Chris was born on September 3rd, 1965, in Lancaster, Ohio. Chris lived for many of his 59 years in Logan, Ohio, raising kids and horses with his loving wife, Nancy Wentz.
Chris worked as a truck driver by trade. Chris worked for XPO in Columbus, Ohio for the last 18 years, and was looking forward to the day he could retire and do more of what he did best, pester his wife.
Chris was the social butterfly of the family and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with people and could talk to anyone about anything. He founded the Hocking Hills Horse Trails group, and grew a following of 11k members, many of whom he met on the trails or visiting the local campsites. He loved to argue just for the fun of it and was pretty sure he was never wrong. Chris was a storyteller, always spinning tales with a grain of truth, especially to his grandchildren. According to Chris, he once got thrown from his horse, Whiskey, because a bear was chasing him, and he was dragged with his head bouncing off rocks all the way home.
Chris leaves behind his wife, Nancy Wentz, his children, grandchildren, and his parents, Ray and Susie Wentz, along with a whole host of other family and loving friends. Chris loved his wife and children, and adored his grandchildren, who will miss him profusely.
Close friends and family are invited to call from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME,405 N Columbus St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with funeral service to follow at 1pm. Friends and family are encouraged to remember Chris as he was- generous, funny, and just a little bit infuriating.
