Charles Robert Wagner

Charles Robert Wagner 92 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at Fairfield Medical Center River Valley Campus on Monday, December 4, 2023.  He was born in Lancaster, Ohio on December 14, 1930 to the late Walter and Viola Wagner. 

He served his country by being in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  Charles then went onto graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree.  He later built his own house where he currently lived. He was a retired from quality control with Vipco Siding Company now Crane Plastics.

Charles was a member of the First united Methodist Church, singing in the church choir for 73 years.  He had several hobbies including, woodworking, fishing, camping, and bird watching and visiting all of the 50 states of the United States.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Janet; daughter, Charlsie (Tom) Green of Angola, Indiana; son, Wesley (Tyra) Wagner of Lancaster; grandchildren, Sarah (Tom) McCafferty, Mary Kathryn (John) Smith, Matthew Wagner, Zachariah (Jessica) Green, Timothy Wagner, Mary Rose Wagner, Isaac Wagner, and Susanna (Travis) Shingler; great grandchildren, Anna Wagner, Annelise Wagner, Elizabeth Shingler, Steven Shingler, Juliet Shingler and another one on the way and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wagner, parents, sisters, Anna Marie (David) Fritts and Ada Mae (Paul) Shaeffer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Nikki Baker officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place. Friends may visit

1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial gifts may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 163 E. Wheeling St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in his memory.
