Charles "Fritz" Prosch

January 24, 1936 — September 22, 2013

Charles Frederick “Fritz” Prosch, 77, of Lancaster, died Sunday, September 22, 2013.
The world lost a great storyteller that day—a man with a big heart and a zest for living life to the fullest.
Fritz was born January 24, 1936, to Olive (Ballentine) and Marcus Prosch. He grew up in Washington Court House, Ohio. He graduated from Washington Court House High School in 1954. He attended Ohio University and later got an associate’s degree from Hocking Technical College. He started his family life in Dayton and moved to Lancaster when his children were young.
Fritz was talented and knowledgeable in so many ways. His interests included history, model railroading, photography, nature and travel. He began his work life as a draftsman at NCR and later worked as an electrician in the manufacturing industry, including work at Anchor Hocking. In his retirement years, he worked in the lamp department at Slater’s Hardware.
Fritz was involved in the Lancaster Men’s Chorus, Olivedale, the Mt. Pleasant Photography Club, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Lancaster Civil War Round Table, the Diabetes Association, and was a former president of the Friends of the Lancaster Park Board. He was active with various model railroading clubs throughout his life, including the Mini Bunch and Central Ohio O-Scale Engineers.
Fritz was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bryan M. Prosch, and extended family. He is survived by: daughter, Susan, her husband Susheel, and their children, Raina and Vikram; his grandchildren Marc Prosch and fiancé Breanne Crawford, Carolyn Prosch, Rebecca Prosch and their mother, Maureen Colopy Prosch Secrist and her husband, Mark; Mary Ann Truelove, the mother of Bryan and Susan; and Amy Haynes Holland and Molly Haynes, daughters of his second wife.
Friends of Fritz became his extended family. He loved nothing more than sharing time and stories with good friends and was always ready for the next adventure. He had so many special friends that to name them all here would be impossible. The family extends their gratitude to those who provided Fritz with support during the last few years.
Fritz’s life will be celebrated this Thursday, September 26,, from 4 to 7 p.m., in an informal gathering of family and friends at the Goslin Nature Center at Alley Park, 2805 Old Logan Road, Lancaster, OH 43130.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the family in care of Susan Srikonda for a memorial to be arranged later.
Frank E. Smith Funeral Home has handled cremation arrangements.
