Charles “Charlie” Mathias, 74, of Pleasantville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.

Charlie was a member of the New Salem United Methodist Church. He retired from Crown-Zellerbach after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Baltimore Lodge #475 F&AM, Scottish Rite - 32nd Degree, and the Aladdin Shrine. He was also a member of the Baltimore V.F.W. Post 3761.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Judy A. Mathias; children, James (Patti) Mathias and Susan (Victor) Collins; step children, Scott (Rhonda) Sorrell, Cheryl (Tom) Dreier, and Wesley (Leysle) Sorrell; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; half sisters, Brenda (Jim) Rainey and Barbara (Rob) Crumbacher; and special friend, Roxanna Mathias.

Charlie was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Ila and Harold Mathias; and grandmother, Hazel Hayes.

Funeral service for Charlie will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Baltimore with Reverend Roger McElfresh officiating. Burial will follow in Union Evangelical Cemetery, Baltimore. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service by the Baltimore Lodge # 475 will be held at 7:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in memory of Charlie to FairHoPe Hospice, 282 Sells Rd, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
