Charles E. Knox, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born September 21, 1928, in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Charles was a 1946 graduate of Butler High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. He served as Vice President of manufacturing at Rocal Inc. in Frankfort, Ohio and plant manager at the Carborundum Company in Logan, Ohio.
Charles was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, he served as an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Charles was a member of the Lancaster Country Club, Masonic Lodge #76 F.&A.M. in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, the Lancaster Elks Lodge #570, the Lancaster Moose Lodge #955, and the Lancaster F.O.E. Aerie #2120. He was also a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.
Charles was a devoted and proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He never missed an opportunity to show his support at any sporting event or activity they were involved in.
Charles is survived by his children, Barbara (Alan) Risch of Lancaster, James (Leslie) Knox of Louisville, Kentucky, and Douglas (Lesa) Knox of Canal Fulton, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Hilliard, Amanda (Adam) Spencer, Courtney Risch, Zachary Risch, Taylor Risch, and Caitlin Knox; and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Lila, and Lainey Hilliard, and Graham Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Janet Knox
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Reverend Matthew Richardson officiating. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at North Side Cemetery in Butler, Pennsylvania.
