Charles "Chuz" Alfred

Charles “Chuz” Alfred, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct 31, 2018. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio in 1932, and was preceded in death this year by his dear "Maggie", wife of 56 years.

He is survived by his five children: Ted, Mike, Julie, Jen, and Dan; daughters-in-law, Teresa, Jill, and Sheyla Alfred; sons-in-law, Greg Hammond and Kevin McDonnell; and nine cherished grandchildren.

Chuz was a realtor by day and a jazz musician by night, and those two worlds continually intertwined to bear long-lasting relationships that endure to this very day. Even in his last months, many musical projects were at work in his heart and mind, and his foot never stopped tapping. His genuine love for music and people left a distinct impression on all those who were graced to know him.

Family will receive friends on Monday Nov 5 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Frank E. Smith's funeral home, 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, OH 43130. Funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, followed by graveside service at Forest Rose Cemetery, 1238 N. Columbus St, Lancaster.
