Catherine Russell Drennen Sweeney, age 80, died Sept. 8th, 2018 at the Pickering House. She was born and raised by the late Robert and Janet Ingram Russell on June 26th, 1938 in Ayr, Scotland. She came to the States in 1956, and became a proud U.S. Citizen. When she came to the states she began knitting and she created beautiful items. The most recent one started as a baby blanket, but became one she used for herself. She started a second blanket right after, yet never was able to complete it due to health issues. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and golfing with friends, especially dear friend, Marla Poling. After she retired from owning Sweeney’s Pub, she took up playing BINGO. Her last time out was with friends at “Blaney’s” or “Brigs” for breakfast, then to the VFW for BINGO. She was so happy. That was 6 days before she passed on to be with her Sweeties.
Catherine in survived by her children, Donna Drennen (Mark) Shouldis, John Sweeney (Kish Smith), Debi (Don) Banta; and Gail Sweeney (David) DeDemonico; grandchildren, Rob, Aimee, Tabi, Justin, Zachery, Jessica, Jason, Shane, Amber, and Joshua; great grandchildren, Kayla, Brooklynn, Mollie, Sage, Parker, Zhari, Dylan, Jerzee, Addie, and Jackson.
