Carlos (Cork) E. Taylor, 77, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at FairHope Hospice, Pickering House after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 18, 1945 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Wm. Robert (Bob) and Ella Taylor of Rushville, Ohio. He was a 1963 graduate of Fairfield Union High School and a graduate of Franklin University. Carlos began his career with the State of Ohio as an Auditor of Schools and Libraries. After being recruited, he moved to the Columbus Metropolitan Library as the Director of Finance from which he retired 32 years later. During his tenure, he and his staff received numerous awards over the years for governmental financial accounting excellence. After retirement, he was a realtor for 17 years with Century 21 Darfus Realty.
Carlos was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1970, where he was an Elder and served on the recent remodeling committee. He enjoyed golf, fishing and traveling with his family and friends. He was a lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lyndel (Clendenen) Taylor; sons, Mark (Leah) Taylor of Naperville, Illinois, and Scott (Kimberly) Taylor of Lewis Center, Ohio; grandchildren, Olivia (fiance Jack Schwickerath), Chloe, Luke, William, Evelyn and Sophia; sister, Charlotte (Taylor) Beyer; several nieces and nephews along with close friends.
In addition to his parents, Carlos was preceded in death by his infant grandson, John E. Taylor; brother-in-laws, Robert Beyer, Tom Clendenen and Leroy Clendenen; along with friends, Floyd Moore, Ken Kiger and Ron Pratt.
Special thanks to the fellowship of the First Presbyterian Church, Dr. Singh, Caretenders, Wound Clinic and the staff at Fairfield Medical. Before passing, Carlos appreciated the special care of FairHope Hospice at the Pickering House.
Friends and family may call from 3-7 on Friday, December 16, at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory at 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday, December 17, at First Presbyterian Church at 222 N. Broad St, Lancaster, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or FairHope Hospice, Pickering House at 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio.
