Carl was a graduate of Philo High School Class of 1987, where he was selected to attend Buckeye Boys State. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University in 1991. While he was in Tiffin he completed his police academy training and was a certified police officer when he graduated.
He worked for the Seneca Sheriff Department, Roseville Police Department, Perry County Sheriff’s Department, Lancaster Police Department and a D.A.R.E. officer.
Carl was a member of the Lancaster Church of Christ, Lancaster Kiwanis, Masonic Lodge #57 F & AM, Kiwanis Baseball, East School Biddy Basketball, 4-H Leader, Parliamentarian, V.P. of Lancaster Athletic Boosters, 3rd Ward Lancaster City Councilman, Lancaster City Councilman-at-Large and President of Lancaster City Council. He was owner of ETAT Enterprises, co-chair of Save the Cannon, Fairfield County Central Committee and F.O.P. Lodge #50.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Erica Diezman Tatman; son, Ethan Wade Tatman; mother, Charlotte E. Tatman; grandmother, Pearl Charles; and mother-in-law, Marlene Kochensparger.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edwin Tatman, brother, Curt Edwin Tatman, grandparents, Thomas Arthur Charles, Theodore Edwin and Pauline Taylor Tatman.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Joe McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Lancaster Masonic Lodge #57 F & AM and F.O.P Lodge #50 will have a memorial service on Tuesday.
