Carl F. Richards, 80, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
Carl served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post #11. He was transportation supervisor for Lancaster City Schools for many years and also served as president of S.E.R.S.. He enjoyed bingo, pool, and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes Football. Carl was a hero without a cape to his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Carl is survived by Sandy Richards, who Carl has been together with for 36 years and married to for 31 years; sons, Eric Richards, Warren D. Abel, Nathan Richards, Tony (Val) Abel, Brian Abel, and Joe Abel; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Barbara Richards; and close family friend, Debra Richards.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Richards: daughter, Valerie Richards; and brothers, Dale and Denver Richards.
Service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail performing veterans burial rights.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
