Carl Nye

Carl Edwin Nye, 79, of Lancaster, passed from failing health issues on Friday, April 29, 2016, at 11:05 AM. He was born August 26, 1937, in Fairfield County to the late Carl K. and Elizabeth E. Brown Nye. He was married to Myrna Jo Taylor on May 7, 1955.

He is survived by his 6 children, Christopher (Peggy) Nye, Terry Nye, Rita Anderson, Cynthia Nye, Mark (Lori) Nye, and Laura (Cliff) Ogg; 8 grandchildren all with spouses; 22 beautiful great grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Ann Fleming and Betty (Neal) Shaw; sister-in-law, Jean Glaze and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Myrna Jo Taylor Nye (April, 29, 2015), brother-sister-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Nye.


He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church on Chicken Coop Hill. He worked for Midland Screw Co. for 17 years and later to work for the City of Lancaster on the street department with 25 years of service. He and his wife were both very active in antiques. He is deeply loved and will be truly missed.

Funeral service for Carl Ed will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Reverend Paul Wymer officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
