C. Duane "Buzz" Bussart

December 9, 1947 — September 6, 2024

Junction City formerly of Lancaster

C. Duane "Buzz" Bussart, born on December 9, 1947, in the town of Lancaster, Ohio, took his final breath on September 6, 2024, in Junction City. His life unfolded like the canvas he cherished, a tapestry of colors, experiences, and moments that resonated with those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Buzz was known as an amazing salesman, weaving stories that drew people in, making them believe in the products he so fervently endorsed. It seemed everyone either loved Buzz or hated him—his bold personality and unyielding spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He relished moments spent in laughter with family during camping trips, sharing tales that would echo long after the campfire had flickered out. Fishing with his buddies was more than a pastime; it was a ritual that embodied the camaraderie and joy of being in nature, where he found solace and peace.

A proud graduate of LHS in 1966, Buzz took to heart the lessons he learned, channeling them into his multifaceted life. His military service in the Air Force during the Vietnam War was a testament to his bravery, a chapter that only added to the depth of his character. Yet, it was his role as a scout master for the Boy Scouts that illuminated his nurturing side—a man who guided young minds under the vast, starry skies, instilling in them values that would shape their futures.

Buzz was not just a salesman or a veteran; he was an artist at heart, reveling in the strokes of a paintbrush and the lines of a pencil. He loved to draw, losing himself in the creative process, where every creation was a reflection of his inner world—a world filled with vibrant colors and boundless imagination. His love for painting was a window into his soul, revealing a man who saw beauty everywhere.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce Ann Bussart, whose unwavering support and companionship enriched their journey together. He leaves behind his sons, Jeff (Debbie) Sherrick, Jerry (Karen Maiden) Sherrick, and Jon Sherrick, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all a  testament to the legacy of love and life he cherished in his heart. He is also survived by his siblings, Gary Bussart, Phil (Nancy Lewis) Bussart, and Susan (Steve) Hritz, alongside several nieces and nephews who will carry forward the cherished memories of their beloved Buzz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bussart, step-father Clarence Lytle, and mother Norma Lytle. Their absence is felt deeply, yet their memories intertwine with the essence of Buzz, reminding us of the cycles of love and loss that give our lives meaning.

A visitation to honor Buzz's life will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Frank E Smith Funeral Home, located at 405 N Columbus St, Lancaster, OH. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery where the Lancaster Veteran Burial Detail will provide Veteran Honors.

As we remember C. Duane "Buzz" Bussart, we celebrate a life unleashed in full bloom, filled with laughter, artistry, and friendship. Though he passed away peacefully at his residence, the memories he created will continue to illuminate the lives of those who remain. Buzz leaves behind a legacy of connection, creativity, and a spirit that will linger long after his departure—a reminder to cherish the moments, to fish, to camp, and perhaps, to find our own canvas in this tapestry of life.
