Billy D. Sampson, 86, of Lancaster, passed away on February 6, 2018. He was born in Waterford, Ohio on November 2, 1931, to the late Ivan Sampson and Ruth (Parks) Fisher.
He is a retired Lieutenant of the Lancaster Fire Department, serving for 25 years. He was the equipment manager for the Lancaster Golden Gales football program for 30 years. He also was a member of the VFW.
Billy is survived by his wife, Donna of Lancaster, Ohio, son, Billy Jr. (Lisa) of Cincinnati, Ohio, three grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, and Caleb, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Sampson, mother, Ruth Fisher, brother, Verner Sampson, and son, Brian Sampson.
A funeral service will take place at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, with Rev. Dr. Brian Jones officiating. Burial will follow at West Rushville Cemetery. The Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will be conducting military rites at the cemetery.
Family and friends may visit on Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OH, 43130, with the Lancaster Fire Department Honor Guard in attendance, and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
