Betty B. (Starner) Romine of Lancaster, age 85 passed away on Saturday morning April 23rd, 2016. She was preceded in death by Charles Eugene Romine, who she married on May 4th, 1951. They had three children, Charles “Steven” Romine wife Jenny O’Hare, Jill Romine-Myers, and Judy Lynn Romine and fiancé John Nakelski; three granddaughters, Rebecca (Danielle) Myers-Axe husband Shad Axe, Adrianne Myers-Leith, and husband Adam Leith, Audra Romine; six great-grandchildren, Bailey Myers, Coleby Axe, Riley Axe, Alexis Leith, Annesley Leith and Levi Johnson.
Betty left behind lots of stuff, she loved glassware, kitchen towels, and gardening items, and filled her home of 54 years. This is not an ad for a garage sale, since every time we tried to have one, she kept carrying it back in the house.
As a family we loved her dearly and will remember her wit, charm, kind soul, and a kitchen never without cookies, pies or cake. She was a great grandmother to three granddaughters, and even put on a plastic horse face and gave out rides around the living room. She always remembered your birthdays until the dementia set in, and spent a great deal of time picking out those cards. She retired from Cyril-Scott and also from thee One-Write Company and enjoyed working there and going back once she retired to the Christmas party every December.
The family would like to thank her care givers for four years, Michelle Conant, Hope Guy, Beth Keeton, Robin Miller, and also McCafferty’s Care Center for the last year. Also thank you to Fair Hope Hospice and the Pickering House for their care and devotions.
A service will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, officiated by Chaplain Karl Hartmann. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 4 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.funeralhome.com
