Betty Hummel

Betty Ilene Hummel, 79, of Baltimore, passed away on December 23, 2017. She was born in Catawissa, PA to the late Harold and Clara Garrison. Growing up in Rohrsburg, PA, Betty soon moved to Orangeville, PA and lived there most of her life. She spent the last 4 years of her life in Baltimore, OH.

Betty loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and is excited to be able to meet her Savior face to face. She enjoyed serving in church, teaching Sunday school and the Good News Club. A kind spirit, Betty was lovingly known to many simply as “Oma”. Young children held a special place in her heart, and Tea Parties all dressed up were her specialty. She was a true example of sacrificial love.

She is survived by her husband, Luther Hummel; daughters, Bonnie (Mike) Vandermark-Geary, Elaine (Harvey) Harrold, Heather (David) Chabot, and Bethann (Shane) Graham; sons, Luke Hummel, Rand (Amber) Hummel, John (Beate) Vandermark, and Ron Hummel; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Wilmer Garrison; sister, Elaine (Dale) Bangs; many nieces and nephews; and many more extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Hummel; and grandson, Dan Hummel.

A memorial service will be held at Cross Roads Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 in Greer, South Carolina. Burial will follow the service at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
