Betty "PJ" Hoover

April 12, 1942 — January 23, 2018

Peggy “PJ” Delong Williamson Hoover, 75 of Bremen, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the Pickering House, surrounded by wonderful care givers, family and many friends. She was born in 1942 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Robert “Bob” and Mary DeLong.

PJ was a 1960 graduate of Lancaster High School and worked for Ohio Power, Diamond Power and later retired after 31 years at Kenworth Truck Co. in Chillicothe, Ohio.

She has had a 32 year battle with cancer beating the odds on several occasions including awakening from a coma 4 years ago after a week in the Pickering House. She was a fighter.

She loved life, had many friends and never complained about her health or ask “why me”. PJ loved to travel and in 2016 we drove across the United States on Rt. 66. She loved art and was a very good artist making her own beautiful Christmas cards for family and friends. Most of all, PJ was the best companion a person could ever hope to spend 29 years with, through all the struggles, hospital stays and hard times fighting cancer, I would go through it all again by her side. She was a wonderful person.

PJ is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Hoover; son, Jamey Williamson; daughter, Penny Noble both of Chillicothe, Ohio; step-children, Joel Hoover of Nashville, Tennessee and Erin (Kelly) Rienschield of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren, Matt and Jeff (Brandy) Noble, Jessica Williamson all of Chillicothe, Ohio, Joel David Hoover of Clintonville, Ohio, Cassidy Hoover of Eugene, Oregon, Mason Newell of Lancaster, Ohio, Chance Newell of San Diego, California and Jackson Rienschield of Lancaster, Ohio; five great grandchildren; sister, Roberta (Charles) Milliser of Lancaster, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

As per PJ wishes, Caring Cremation® has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCATSER, OHIO 43130. There will be no visiting hours observed. A Celebration of PJ’s Life will be at a later date.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in her memory.
