Biography

Betty D. Murphy - Hilyard, 88, of Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.

Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Betty is survived by her children, Janice, Dennis, and Bruce; step-children, Marianne, Michelle, and Georganna; eighteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and sister, Vera Ruth Nickman.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles E. Murphy and George J. Hilyard.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday in the First Presbyterian Church, 222 N Broad St, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Reverend Matthew Richardson officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.

A service will also be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Brooks Funeral Home, 111 E Green St, Connellsville, Pennsylvania 15425 with burial to follow Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville. Friends may call from 11 to 1:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family is being served by the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster.
