Betty C. Buckalew, 91, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Arbors of Carroll Nursing Facility. She was a member of Maple St. United Methodist Church, where she previously served as a 1st grade Sunday School teacher, for 26 years.
She was a local artist of many paintings of historical barns, bridges, and fairgrounds. She would incorporate her art work into her church work. Betty and her late husband were members of Maple St. Church since 1950.
Betty is survived by her sons, Robert H. Buckalew (Danny Gucker) of Chicago, Il, and Timothy G. Buckalew of Lima, OH; daughters, Beth Ann (Rodney) Richardson, and Lisa Diane (Jeffrey) Huston, both of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 27 great great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Gerri) McDonald of Michigan; sister, Nancy (Carl) Lower of Columbus; sister-in-law, Patricia Buckalew of Lancaster; brother-in-law, Franklin Buckalew; several nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law, Devra Buckalew of Maro Island, FL.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Erston H.; son, John V.; infant daughter, Susan; grandson, Jason; granddaughter, Sarah Warner; parents, John and Garnet McDonald; sister, Carolyn (Jean) Rowels; and brother-in-law, Dean Rowels of Bremen.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH, 43130 officiated by Pastor Phyllis Fetzer. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Family and Friends may visit from 4-7 PM at the funeral home on Friday.
