Berkley Marion

Berkley Marion, age 82, of Lancaster, Ohio has now seen the face of God. He passed on into the destination of Heaven on Friday, the 3rd of February, 2017, at 11:00 PM.

He died of cancer of the hips. Berkley was born October 29, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Virgie and Charles Marion. He was one of 4 children; brother Thomas and sister Betty Jane both deceased and Lillian, the living sister, of North Carolina.

Berkley is the father of 3; Julia, Alan, and Jill; 7 grandchildren, Cori, Rodney, Angela, Laura, Quinten, Jeremy, and Kelli Anna. There are many nieces and nephews scattered around. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially Joyce, his wife of 60 years.

Berkley became a born again Christian in 1971 and became a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church in 1974. He has been an active member there in the church ministry.

A hearty thanks to those at FairHoPe Hospice, they are truly a gift of God to suffering people.

He can be viewed at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 324 East St, Sugar Grove, Ohio 43155 with a eulogy by Colonel Bill Barker and officiated by Reverend Alfred Holley and Reverend Tony Hudson. Burial will follow in Greenfield Township Cemetery on Rt 33, next to the airport. Berkley served in the United States Marine Corps and military burial rites will be performed by the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail. Following the services, family and friends may return to Sugar Grove United Methodist church for a complimentary meal to celebrate Berkley’s life.
