Benjamin E. Gilbert 58 of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Pickering House. He was retired from Hordis Brothers with 26 years of service, loved to fish and college football.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy; son Ben Gilbert of Pataskala, Ohio; daughters, Tammy (Rob) Kay of Circleville, Ohio and Becky (Harry) Harman of Amanda, Ohio; grandchildren, Noah and Taylor Gilbert, Maleeya and K.J. Kay, T.J. and Keisha King, and Trista Flood; father and his wife, William E. and Judy Gilbert of Lancaster, Ohio; sister, Theresa (Norman) Haynes of Lancaster, Ohio; step-brothers and step-sisters; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy Gaines of Oakhill, Ohio, Jim and Karen Unger of Laurelville, Ohio, Mick and Cheryl Unger of Kingston, Ohio, Marty and Reba Unger of Laurelville, Ohio, and Marilyn Justice of Rockbrdige, Ohio; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella M. Murray Gilbert. A special thank you to the staff at the Pickering House and FairHoPe Hospice.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor John Butcher officiating. Caring Cremation to follow. Friends may visit 2 hours prior the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
