Barbara Jane Carter Selby 74 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Pickering House.
She was born on July 16, 1938 in Leslie, West Virginia to the late William Matthew and Pearl Jane Berry Carter. She was a graduate of Crichton High School. Barbara worked at Essex Wire for 27 years before going to work for Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. later retiring in 2008.
Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the greatest joy in her life.
She is survived by her son, Paul Franklin Selby; daughters, Lori Jean (Dave) Kling and Barbara (Tim) Fair all of Lancaster, Ohio; four grandchildren, Shaun Anthony, Amber Renee, Stacy Jo and Ashley Nicole; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Dr. Sara Alley, the staff of the Pickering House and care givers, Patty and Kenny. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 19, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCATSER, OHIO 43130. Caring Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
