Barbara Lou Mambourg, age 90 of Lancaster, died March 15th, 2016 at the Heartland Fairfield Nursing Home. She was born in Lancaster on September 1, 1925 to the late, Nestor and Jessie Dorsey Mambourg. She graduated from Rushville Union High School and worked as a Librarian for 30 years. She was at the Lancaster Public Library for 17 years, and retired after 13 years at the Ohio State University Main Campus Library. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, OSU Faculty Club, Sierra Club, and the Fairfield County Historical Parks. She was the last Mambourg to reside in the Mambourg Lodge which is now run by the Fairfield County Historical Parks. Barbara will be greatly missed.
She was survived by her son, Mark (Linda) Mambourg, of Cape Coral, FL and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Donald, John, Jessie Jane, Robert, Helen Louise, William, Shirley Ann, Lydia, and Paul Mambourg.
A service will take place on Monday at 10:30AM at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, officiated by The Rev. G. William Pursley. Burial will follow at Forest Rose Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1PM until 4PM at the funeral home.
