Ruth passed away peacefully at the Pickering House with family by her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Stiverson (George Miller), sons and daughters in law, Dyke Andrews (Cindy), and George Andrews (Sandy), 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. Special friend, Jean Nobel and a very caring and faithful friend of over 65 years, Donna Stewart.
She was proceeded by her parents, Lewis and Minnie Barnes, brothers and sisters in law, Vernon (Mildred), Herb (Reba), Harold (Lois), Dwight (Gert), Eddie (Lillie) and brothers Ray, Everitt and Carl.
Ruth retired from Kroger after 30+ years. The later years she managed the floral department where she loved helping with weddings, dances and other special occasions with her beautiful floral arrangements. She would be recognized for many years after she retired for her smile and be remembered for her genuine love of people. She was a devout member and tireless volunteer of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ.
We would like to give a special thank you to Angel and Loreen at Reflections for the care they gave her and her “fur babies”!
It was her request that she be cremated and buried at Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be a graveside service on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:30pm.
The family welcomes you to join them for a celebration of 96 years well lived! It will be Saturday, February 17, 2018 4 – 7 pm at Independence Hall , 1776 Cedar Hill Rd., Lancaster, where she held Christmas Eve for her family for many years.
Ruth loved her fur babies, Lillie Mae, Cici and Cleo and had ask in lieu of flowers any memorials be made to help animals; ie Fairfield County Humane Society or an animal charity of your choice.
Her family would like to thank and include the Pickering House in the memorials where she received loving care in her final days.
