August Rausch

August Rolland “Rollie” Rausch, age 89, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, former resident of Hide-A-Way Hills, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born September 2, 1927 in Marysville, Ohio to the late Leonard and Sarah Rausch.

He was a World War II and Korean Conflict veteran serving in the US Navy and the US Coast Guard. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1944 and The Ohio State University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

He worked for Swift and Company and Ross Laboratories and later retired as a plant engineer for General Electric in Circleville.

Rollie was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Logan, Ohio, served on church council, and other church committees, Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery Committee and American Legion. He built his own home in Hide-A-Way Hills and Columbus, Ohio and could fix anything.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters Ramona (Barry) Moenter and Juanita (Steve) Huss; grandchildren Kyle (Breanne) Huss, Eric (Shauna and her daughter Ellie) Moenter, Laura (Robert) Gay, and Sarah Moenter; great-grandson Mason Huss; stepdaughter, Wendi (Andrew) Beauseau and their daughters Brenna and Aubrey and his beloved Sheltie, Archie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; brother, Richard; and sister, Marjorie.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 29439 Hide-A-Away Hills Ln., Logan, Ohio 43138 with Rev. Heinz Raidel officiating. Burial will follow in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Logan, Ohio with the Lancaster Veterans Burial detail conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are being handled by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.
