Arlene Davey Brandt Rowles 94 of Lancaster, Ohio truly loved by all entered into rest on Monday, August 22, 2011 peacefully in the presence of her family and knowing Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Arlene was born in Bremen, Ohio on September 29, 1916 to the late Clarence and Martha Lelia (Harris) Davey of Barnesville, Ohio, the 2nd oldest of five children. She graduated from Bremen Rushcreek Memorial High School in 1934. being a life long resident of Fairfield and Perry Counties, she was a member of Mt. Zion united Brethren Church in Junction City and later in life an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster where she was a member of the church choir, taught Sunday School and served as church treasurer. She retired from the Administrative Office of the Lancaster Fairfield County Hospital in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Purcel Ralph Brandt in 1954 and a second husband Harold M. Rowles in 2001. She was also preceded in death by a beloved and devoted son-in-law Gary D. Starner in 2008, a brother J. Thomas Davey of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and a sister Mary Florence Koudelka of Harrisburg, Virginia.
She was Mother, Father and precious companion to three surviving daughters: Kay (Robert) Hughes of Fort Scott, Kansas, Faye (Clarence) Angles of Pickerington, Ohio and Martha Starner of Lancaster, Ohio. She is also survived by a sister Martha Ulrich of Marshall, Michigan and a brother Wayne Davey of Greenville, Ohio. She is lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Robert (Lara) Hughes of Shawnee Missions, Kansas, Barry (Stacie) Hughes of Commerce City, Colorado, Eric (Kim) Coffman of Baltimore, Ohio, Krista (John) Seibert of Powell, Ohio, Lori Ashton of Lancaster, Ohio and David (Michelle) Starner of Blacklick, Ohio. She is survived by sixteen great grandchildren, Jacob and Grace Hughes, Hallie and Connor Hughes, Brandt and Kortnie Coffman, Alexander and Benjamin Place, Hannah and Elizabeth Seibert, Brian McCoy, Nicholas Ashton, Tasha Ashton, Eliana, Mikah and Natalie Starner and two great great grandchildren Landon and Kenzley Mattox.
Her family will welcome friends and loved ones to celebrate her eternal peace on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Nihiser officiating. Burial to follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may visit 2 hours prior the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are being handled by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.
