Anne Scottie Hoffie Schneider, 76, passed away at Pickering House on July 29, 2011. She was born October 6, 1934 in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1955 she met and married Gail Francis Schneider of the United States Air Force. After many years stationed throughout the United States and abroad, they returned to Lancaster, Ohio and settled with their children, William and Michele.
Known to most as Scottie, Anne touched many lives over the years. She was a devoted military wife and mother, a very special grandmother, beloved pal to her Girls at Buckeye Mart, and a good friend to those in her long-time neighborhood. During their years in the Air Force she was an active member of many clubs on base, and made friendships that spanned decades.
Anne is survived by her son, William; and daughter, Michele Hikec and husband, Ray Donaldson; grandchildren, Jason (Leslie) and Heather, as well as two great-grandsons Ethan and Keller; brothers and sisters, William (Alice) Hoffie of Aberlady, Scotland, Mary (George) Lugton and Eileen Hoffie, all of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Francis (Irene) Hoffie, of Ontario, Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews; and four legged companions, Dazi and Kelee.
Anne is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Gail Schneider; parents, Ellen and William Hoffie; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Theresa Schneider; sister-in-law, Irene (Francis) Hoffie; and brother and sister-in-law, Roy and June Walter.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date, with burial to take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Donations in her honor can be made to Pickering House, in Lancaster, Ohio.
