Anna "Anna Stella Wise Birmingham" Birmingham

Anna Stella Wise Birmingham, 89, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on January 16, 2013, at her home.

Anna was born October 1, 1923, in Richwood, West Virginia, the daughter of Antonio and Antonia Wise. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated from Collingwood High in 1941. In June 1948, she married Daniel J. “Jack” Birmingham, who preceded her in death in 1980. She spent most of her adult life in Shadyside, Ohio, and spent the last 13 years in Lancaster.

Anna was a homemaker and raised 6 children. She was active in her community and church. Her volunteer work included USO in the 1940’s, Meals-on-Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, presidential elections, and reading assistant in grade schools. Anna loved gardening, animals, music, traveling, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents and her spouse, Anna was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Wise; her daughter, Patricia Birmingham; and her son-in-law, Michael Lubozynski. Anna is survived by her brother, Ray and wife, Carmen Wise; sister-in-law, Toni Wise; her 5 children, Peggy Lubozynski, Mary Wilfert, Kathy Birmingham, Dan Birmingham, and Anne Woodard; and their families, including 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and her cat.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 9:00 AM. Anna was a lifelong Catholic. She requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Maryknoll Sisters, P.O. Box 317, Maryknoll, NY 10545.
