Andrew "Andy" J. Arter

Andrew “Andy” J. Arter, age 44 of Lancaster, died, Feb. 5th, 2023 at Fairfield Medical Center.  He was born on Aug. 13, 1978 in Lancaster.  He was highly involved with 4-H, being a member of Horses Unlimited for 11 years where he was an excellent barrel racer.  He was a 1997 LHS graduate who became a Farmer’s Life Ins. agent for 5 years, then the owner and operator of Discreet Heat Remediation Plus, LLC.  Andy loved spending time with his family and friends, especially if it involved a huge bonfire and fireworks.  He will be greatly remembered for his boisterous personality and amazing whit by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Tristan, Alexzandria, and Savannah Arter; mother, Dixie Carroll (Frank) Smith, brother, Jason (Bobbie Montgomery) Shaeffer; extended siblings, F. Eric (Jennifer) Smith and Lori (Matt) Swain; long time companion, Cheryl Slone and her son, Donovan; former wife, Brandy Arter; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; cousins; and extended family and friends .

He was preceded in death by his son, Tyler J. Swackhamer; father, Harold “Butch” Arter; grandparents, Woodrow Carroll, James and Helen Goodwin; Bernice Sharp, and Harold Arter.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, at 1:30PM at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH 43130 officiated by Josh Dexter.   Caring Cremation™ will follow the service.  Family and friends may visit Thursday at the funeral home from 4PM until 8PM and from 11:30 until the time of service on Friday.  A private celebration of life service will take place at a later date.  Donations may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.  Online condolences can be made at www.funeralhome.com
