Alice Miller, age 83, of Lancaster passed away on January 20, 2017 at Fairfield Medical Center. She was born on January 16, 1934 in West Virginia, daughter of the late Paul and Ruth McCoy. She graduated from Webster Springs High School in 1952. Later that year, she met a handsome young man named Guy Miller at a church cake auction. That’s where their love for auctions and each other started. She married the love of her life on November 29,1952. Alice and Guy were looking for a brighter future and a place to start a family. They moved to Lancaster, Ohio. Alice began working at Lancaster Glass where she worked for 42 years. Alice and Guy had their son, Guy Jr. and daughter, Sue. They made a fabulous life in Ohio and raised two children with her values of a caring heart and a hard working soul. Her home was the families’ anchor where they shared many years of reunions, Christmases, and lifetime memories with several generations. After she retired, she enjoyed collecting antiques, going out to dinner at Nick’s Pizza, and traveling. She even drove all the way to Alaska. She was blessed to have lived a wonderful life surrounded by family and friends.
Alice is survived by her children, Guy Jr. (Kimberly) Miller and Sue Frank both of Lancaster. She is survived by 4 grandchildren; Jamie (Heidi) Miller and Dustin (Sarina) Miller both of Lancaster, Melissa (Curt) Brogan of Canal Winchester and Chad (Allison) Frank of Phoenix, AZ. She was over the moon for her 8 great-grandchildren; Jesse, Rileigh, Billy, Bailee, Braxton, Henry, Kaiden,and Charlotte. Alice is survived by her brothers and sisters; John McCoy of Hamilton, OH, Ray McCoy of St. Augustine, FL, Frances Barker of Madison, MS, Millie Sharma, High Point, NC, Charlie McCoy and Mary McCoy both of Lancaster, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings; Jack, Dick, and Polly, and son-in-law, Bill Frank.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, officiated by Reverend Nick England. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6-8 p.m.Tuesday and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
