Alfred "Al" Brown

Alfred “Al” B. Brown, age 97 of Lancaster died July 27th 2016 at Heartland of Fairfield. He was born to the late Ray and Winifred Snodgrass Brown in Madison County. He proudly served his country in both WWII and the Korean War, in the Army Air Corp and then the Air Force. He set up radar all throughout the Pacific and was recruited back to train for the Korean War because of his prior knowledge and skill. Al retired as a purchaser for Anchor Hocking Glass after 44 years. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Larry) Smith of Lancaster; grandsons, Bret and Shane Smith, and Robert Banker; granddaughter, Shawn Renault; step-children, Debbie (Bill) Lipps; Mike (Bridget) Kellner, Christy (Chris) Jones, and Kevin (Christy) Kellner; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Jean Dent Brown; second wife, Diana K. Striegle Brown; daughter, Darlene Jean Banker; great-grandchild, Jeremy Smith; 3 brothers, Russell, Bob, and Harold Brown; and sister Helen Porter.

Caring Cremation has taken place. A memorial service at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME will take place on Thursday August 4th, at 11AM. The Lancaster Veteran Burial Detail will have a committal service following the memorial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the memorial service.
