Alexander Lee Surratt

Alexander Lee Surratt, beloved infant son of Jennifer Elizabeth West and David Gregory Surratt, Jr. of Canal Winchester, OH passed away at home September 6, 2023, after 26 days of a too brief but infinitely cherished life.

He loved snuggling with his family, was fascinated by classical music and was protected by ever-alert watchdogs Nova and Rambo. Alex’s arrival was eagerly anticipated; his sudden departure an eternal sorrow for family and friends. They will forever miss his contented snoozes, his frequent hiccups, that newborn grin and those beautiful blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair.

Baby Alex is survived by his parents, sister Lillian Jean Surratt and brother Dean Ryder Surratt of Canal Winchester, OH; grandparents Catherine Elizabeth and Randall Scott West of Columbus OH, Linda Wheeler Surratt Roggli and Victor L. Roggli of Durham, NC and Melissa McKnight McKeegan Surratt of The Villages. FL; uncle Matthew Scott Surratt of Asheville NC; aunt Krystle Michelle Isaacs and husband Brian Greggs of Columbus, OH; uncle Daniel Tyler West and wife Dallas. His extended family includes the Wests, Isaacs, Drivers, Wheelers, Wilmoths, McKeegans, and many more.

Alex was preceded in death by his grandfather David Gregory Surratt, Sr. and great grandparents David Lee and Colleen Driver Surratt and Murrell D. and Virginia Swain Wheeler.

The family will meet friends Friday September 15, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 followed by a private gathering at the family home.

Flowers or remembrances may be sent to the funeral home or in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alive in My Heart (www.aliveinmyheart.org) which supports grieving parents who have lost infant children.
