A. Venoie Amey, age 95, of Columbus, died January 7th, 2013. She was born to Ole and Julia Ramberget Olson of New Rockford, ND on April 23, 1917. She worked as a R.N. at Children's Hospital for 35+ years. She was an active member of the 1st English Lutheran Church in Columbus; a member of Beta Sigma Phi; she volunteered for many service organizations. In later years, she was involved with the Martin Janis Center.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley (Edward) Schaffner of Baltimore and Barbara (Bob Suess) Scholtz of Cincinnati; grandchildren; Evan, Grace, Graham, and Peter Schaffner; sisters, Dora (Duane) Birkeland of Sherwood Oregon, and Metta McDowell of New Rockford, ND; 24 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and long time friend Margie Ewing of Pataskala.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Amey, parents, siblings, Inga, Clifford, Martha, Orin, Raymond, Rolf, and Julia.
A service will take place on Saturday at 10:30AM at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lancaster, officiated by pastor Mark Raddatz. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Baltimore. Family and friends may call from 3 to 6 PM on Friday at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME in Baltimore and one hour prior at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers make a donation to your charity of choice in Venoie's name. The family would like to thank all the staff of both Heartland Hospice and Carriage Court.
